meet Roccalvecce, rocca for short

This Italian mountaintop village has charm, history and a bright future!

the present

Perched on the top of a hill, Rocca is a beauty visible from far and wide. With its winding little paths, cobblestone streets, Italian bricks and tiles, and stunning views, visitors cannot help but be charmed. Plus, ideally located under two hours north of Rome and one hour east of the seaside, it feels completely remote but yet is completely accessible!

Rocca’s history dates way back to Etruscan times, in 8th and 7th century BC. Later it became a Roman fortress, with its castle solidifying its importance in the region throughout the medieval ages. Passing from one family to another, the castle has been with Costaguti family since the late 1600’s.

Although holding a long and rich heritage, present-day Rocca is struggling to maintain its place in the history books. The population is ageing and dying out. The town is in need of a revival. It needs people who care about its culture and are interested in carrying its traditions into the future!
